Are you protecting your vision?

When is the last time you had your eyes checked? August is both National Eye Exam Month and Children’s Eye Health & Safety Month, so what better time to highlight one of our partners, Optical Academy? Optical Academy has been a partner of MTA Benefits for five years and is a pioneer in the eye care industry. As we age, our vision needs change, and while not everyone experiences the same symptoms, we should all schedule a complete eye exam at least every two years. But, time goes by quickly and suddenly that important task has been postponed for 4 or 5 years. Learn how Optical Academy can help … without any inconvenience to you.

Who they are

Optical Academy is a force in the eye care community, seeking to eliminate the high markup of eyewear. They’ve also made it a point to improve on basic eye screenings in schools which often aren’t comprehensive and can miss important issues, like color blindness. Optical Academy is a New Jersey-based team of optometrists, opticians and vision technicians who will come to your school and provide complete eye exams with state-of-the-art technology. Their mobile optical shop contains many affordable, stylish frames. They also created a nonprofit, See A Beautiful Day, Every Day, which has provided free vision care to more than 3,000 children and families in need. CEO Abby Ayoub was named one of 2017’s Most Influential Women in Business in New Jersey by NJBIZ.

What they do

The convenience of this program can’t be beat. The Optical Academy Mobile Optical Shop can be scheduled to come into your school on any weekday, evening or weekend. Your family members are welcome to attend the event too. Eye exams cost $30, but if you already have an up-to-date prescription, just bring that along. Single lens frames start at just $29.

How to book

Your local association president can contact Stev Padilla at stev@optical-academy.com or 800.540.2730 to arrange for the on-site visit. Requirements for the shop are:

  • 50 members must pre-register for an eye exam
  • A minimum of 400 sq. ft for registration, eye exam equipment, large optical shop and lab area
  • A building with adequate parking

This would make a great back-to-school event for your association!

I cannot thank you enough for assisting in what I felt was a successful event. The professional team from Optical Academy was simply wonderful. They are kind and upbeat. We had a great time."
