"The Cookie Loved 'Round the World" by Kathleen Teahan
Based on real events, The Cookie Loved 'Round the World tells the history of the chocolate chip cookie, invented at the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman, Massachusetts, during the Great Depression. Kids of all ages will be intrigued by the historical facts and beautifully illustrated story of Ruth Wakefield's 1937 creation which grew in popularity throughout Whitman, the whole state of Massachusetts, the rest of the country and the entire world. It makes an attention grabbing read-aloud for classes in women's history, civics and problem solving. Kathleen Teahan, a former Massachusetts English teacher and state representative, self-published in 2017 and donates $1 from the sale of each book to fight world hunger. MTA pay $11.65 plus shipping.
