The Cookie Loved 'Round the World by Kathleen Teahan

Based on real events, The Cookie Loved 'Round the World tells the history of the chocolate chip cookie, invented at the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman, Massachusetts, during the Great Depression. Kids of all ages will be intrigued by the historical facts of Ruth Wakefield's 1937 creation which grew in popularity throughout Whitman, the state of Massachusetts, the rest of the country, and the entire world. It makes an attention grabbing read-aloud for classes in history, civics, problem solving, and math. Kathleen Teahan, a former Massachusetts English teacher and state representative, self-published this beautifully illustrated book in 2017 and donates a portion of the sale of each book to fight world hunger. She is offering her book to MTA members for $11.65 plus shipping. E-mail Kathy to obtain the discount.
