At long last, summer vacation is finally here, and you’ve probably got some free time to fill. But you don’t want to spend too much money on all that summer fun. Read on to learn how much you’ll save on everything from adventure parks to books or click here for a full list of MTA member discounts.

Theme and Adventure Parks

Summertime is the best time to visit a theme park and you have lots of options, from old favorites to a number of new discounts this year!

Head up to Saco, Maine where you’ll find Funtown Splashtown, a combination ride park and water park. Use the MTA code found here to access special pricing. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Since you’re already in Maine, don’t forget discounts at old favorites like Old Palace Playland and York’s Wild Kingdom. At Old Palace Playland, save $3 on admission for yourself and family on the unlimited ride wristband when you show your MTA ID. For discounts to York’s Wild Kingdom, call MTA Benefits at 800.336.0990 in advance to receive coupons that allow $13 admission per person. Discounts are also available to Canobie Lake Park, Crayola ExperienceTM, Lake Compounce & Crocodile Cove, Six Flags New England and Story Land. Get your tickets here.

Also new this year is a $10 discount on the Ultimate Adventure at Candia Springs Adventure Park in Candia, New Hampshire. This package includes the new guided zipline tour through the nearly 50-acre park, as well as admission to the Aerial Adventure Forest, where you’ll move from platform to platform by crossing bridges, climbing ladders and overcoming obstacles.

At less than an hour’s drive from Boston and a 30-minute drive from Worcester, Boundless Adventures in Berlin now offers members a discount on 9 courses of treetop adventures for all skill levels. Members save 50% with the purchase of 2 full price general admission tickets with MTA ID. Can’t get enough of the thrills found at adventure parks and zip lines? Also check out discounts at Catamount Aerial Adventure Park, Berkshire East Zip Line, Zoar Outdoor Canopy Tours and The Adventure Park at Storrs.

Recreation and Entertainment

Once you’ve had your fill of theme parks, you may be ready for something with a slower pace. If you love attending shows at the Boch Center Wang Theatre, then you can’t miss the chance to take a behind-the-scenes tour! Learn about the theatre’s architectural highlights and unique history – and stand on the stage graced by Ella Fitzgerald, Queen, Elton John, Lady Gaga and more. Members save $4 on admission with current MTA card.

While you’re in the area, the new Boston’s Dreamland Wax Museum gives you the chance to take a selfie with Tom Brady in the field or the Queen in her royal court. Walk through Presidential Hall where you’ll find all 44 Presidents, and see your favorite world leaders, sports icons and celebrities. Members pay $12.50 (a 50% discount!) with current MTA card.

Red Sox fans will be excited to know that they are hosting several Teacher Appreciation Nights in August and September this season. Learn more and purchase your tickets here. Purchase deadlines are in effect, so grab them before your chance is gone!

One of the best summer destinations for those young and old is Belkin Family Lookout Farm in South Natick. Included in admission, which MTA members save $2 on, are train rides, children’s play area, farm maze, hay pyramid, moon bounce and more! Don’t miss MTA Member Appreciation Week, August 12 – 18, 2019, when members save 50% on admission! Make sure to take advantage of the seasonal U-Pick activity; the price of fruit is not included in admission.

While this all sounds great, we’d also highly recommend taking some time to relax and rejuvenate before the craziness of the back-to-school season begins. The Porches Inn at Mass MoCA in North Adams is now offering special rates for MTA members, which is the perfect excuse for a respite in the beautiful Berkshires. At the nearby Berkshire Theatre where members save 20%, catch Rock and Roll Man; The Alan Freed Story between June 27 and July 21 or Shrek The Musical from August 1 through August 17.

Summer may be your only chance to catch up on some reading, whether you’re at the beach, sitting by the pool, or hiding from your kids in the pantry. Check out one of the many local bookstores that offer MTA discounts, including Booklovers’ Gourmet in Webster, Books by the Sea in Centerville, Eight Cousins Books in Falmouth and Broadside Bookshop in Northampton. New this year is a 20% discount at Brattle Book Shop in Boston and a 20% discount on the entire inventory of used books at Roundabout Books in Greenfield. Here is the full list of bookstore discounts.

Don’t let the summer pass you by without sneaking in a little “me time.” Use your MTA card to save on a well-deserved massage. Advanced Massage Therapy in Brookline is a member-owned business and offers a 20% discount on therapeutic massage services. Restoration Massage in Assonet offers an $8 MTA discount on a one-hour massage. Find a service near you!
